Welcome to the Melrose Run For Women
Unfortunately, the 23rd Annual Melrose Run for Women has been cancelled due to the coronavirus crisis. It was not an easy decision for the Melrose Running Club to cancel this popular event, but doing so is the only way to help keep people safe.
This 3.5-mile, women’s only road race is a local Mother’s Day tradition … and one of MAAV’s largest fundraisers of the year! The money that is raised by this event is vital to the work done at MAAV. The funds allow MAAV to continue their prevention programs in the Melrose schools and to provide direct services to victims of domestic violence.
While the Melrose Running Club won’t be hosting the race, we’re asking that you help us keep the tradition alive this year by participating in your own virtual version of the Melrose Run for Women. Some time in the next month, go for a run or a walk, wearing a shirt from from a past race if you have one! Share your picture on social media using #2020MothersDayRun so we can see it!
And, if you are able, please consider making a donation directly to MAAV using the link below. If you’d like your donation to honor a special woman in your life, whether it’s your mother, grandmother, sister, or friend, let MAAV know in the comments so they can give them a shout out on social media too!
A unique way to celebrate Mothers Day, the Melrose Running Club invites you to participate in the 26th running of the Melrose Run For Women on Sunday, May 14th, 2023.
This family event honoring mothers and children has quickly become a Melrose Mothers Day tradition drawing over 1000 women. The festivities kick off with a series of kids races followed by the main event: a 3.5 mile run/walk which winds through the scenic and peaceful Swains Pond section of the city. The race finishes up with children handing out flowers, a bounty of baked goods and coffee, music, and awards.
Awards are given to the top finishers, the first mother and grandmother to finish, and best mother/daughter team finishers. Awards are also given to top age group finishers.
A portion of your entry fee is donated to the Melrose Alliance Against Violence. MAAV is a domestic violence prevention and education organization in Melrose. Since the races inception in 1998 the Melrose Running Club has donated over $170,000 to MAAV.
This race is truly a celebration of women of all ages and abilities, you won’t want to miss it. Be sure to invite your mother, your sisters, your daughters, and your friends!
